In 1588, the Duke de Guise and princess Fausta are vying for the crown. Violetta, a young gypsy who has caught the duke’s eyes, is the object of a merciless competition between would-be lovers. When the duke discovers Violetta is of noble origins, he has her kidnapped in order to help in his attempt to overthrow the king. Pardaillan must then intervene to save the king and the damsel in distress.
