A friendship between two teenage girls who share a flat: Reinette, a country girl who wants to become a painter and Mirabelle, a Parisian student. The four ‘adventures’, in the countryside and then in Paris, reveal the girls’ differing reactions to nature, social injustice, money and the subject invariably at the centre of Rohmer’s films, talk itself.
