Silvia is about to get married. On the eve of meeting her fiance, she obtains her father’s consent to try an experiment: in order to observe her husband-to-be and to chose him freely, she is to swap identity with her servant, Lisette. Monsieur Orgon, Sylvia’s father accepts knowing full well that Dorante, Sylvia’s fiance has made a similar request and traded places with his butler, Arlequin.
