Paris, 1793. Maurice Lindey, a young and fervent revolutionary rescues a mysterious woman from the clutches of the citizen’s army. That same night, Maison Rouge makes an attempts to have the Queen and the royal family escape from the Prison du Temple and a handsome reward is offered for his capture. Lindey follows the musterious woman, only to learn that her name is Genvieve Dixmer and that she is married to the owner of a tannery. Maurice is ivited to the house and recived as a firend. He is far too in love to realise that the house is full of conspirators. He even goes as far as introducing Genevieve to the Queen. When she is caught with a message for the Queen, again, Maurice covers for Genevieve and falls under the suspicion of his revolutionary friends.
