Athol Adams was a well known portrait photographer who documented his life in Dandenong in the 1950s. Athol Adams footage is courtesy of Jenny and Owen Peake.
Athol was born 30/05/1916. He grew up in Box Hill, Victoria. Served in the RAAF in World War II in the area of reconnaissance where he commenced an interest in photography. Settled in Dandenong in the late 1940’s where he became a well known portrait photographer through until 1960, when he closed the business. He continued his profession as a photographer working for such companies as Volkswagen and Foodland. He was married to Carmen for 52 years, had four children, and was a loving husband and father.
