The home-movie market took off after World War II. Enthusiasts across the world began to document their lives with a series of small, easy-to-use home-movie cameras that shot on 8mm and 16mm film. These were great introductory cameras for filmmakers – particularly the Swiss-made Bolex H16 camera, which is often used in film schools today. Directors and experimental filmmakers like David Lynch, Spike Lee and Maya Deren all started out using the Bolex H16.
