Celebrated director, screenwriter and cinematographer Warwick Thornton reflects on his work in conversation with Margaret Pomeranz.
ABOUT WARWICK THORNTON
Warwick Thornton is a Kaytetye man whose debut feature film as director, Samson and Delilah (2009), won the coveted Camera d'Or at the 62nd Cannes International Film Festival. Thornton was also that film’s cinematographer and has a prolific practice in this field – alongside Samson and Delilah he has lensed most of his own films (Sweet Country, 2017) and television series (Mystery Road, 2020), Firebite (2021–22) as well as the work of other celebrated directors, including Rachel Perkins' Radiance (1998) and Wayne Blair’s The Sapphires (2012).
ABOUT MARGARET POMERANZ
Margaret Pomeranz AM co-hosted The Movie Show on SBS and At The Movies on ABC with David Stratton for nearly three decades. She has served as a member of the Advertising Standards Board, is a past president of the Film Critics Circle of Australia and has been both president and vice-president of Watch on Censorship. Margaret also presented a movies and a review program Screen on Foxtel.
