It's the year 2000. You’re in your bestie's bedroom on your PC, bedazzled flip phones on the side, playing The Sims.
Ever wish you could hit the rewind button and go back to the good ol’ days, when life was as simple as loading up The Sims and diving into a world where you could be whoever you wanted? Whether that meant a Sim who was a rockstar, a mad scientist, or a fashionista with the perfect low-rise jeans. Trying out relationships, careers, and personality traits like they were outfits; your only worries were finding the next cheat code (motherlode, anyone?), snagging the latest expansion pack, or watching your Sim tragically drown in the pool. Simpler times, right?
We’re ready to transport you back to that very era, with our pop-up Y2K inspired bedroom complete with classic The Sims design elements and the iconic Woohoo Bed. Think blow-up couches, CD towers, fuzzy rugs, and more, designed by local creators and die-hard Simmers Josh & Matt Design.
Some of your favourite streamers, Deligracy, JeyJeyBink and ximOpti, will be going live from the pop-up for you to watch all their Sims antics on the big screen, right here at ACMI. Who’s ready to watch them live out their wildest Sim fantasies?
The immersive Y2K bedroom pop-up will be open daily from 21 - 23 Feb for guests to visit, free of charge with no bookings required.
The bookable gaming stations for you to play The Sims: Birthday Bundle featuring The Sims and The Sims 2 have sold out due to overwhelming demand, however the sessions may be released to visitors in-person if a ticketholder is more than 15 minutes late for their session.
Streaming sessions will be free to attend, with no booking required, however will be subject to maximum capacities of the space.
