A fun, free program created for two to five year-olds to enjoy ACMI with their parent, grandparent or carer.
Join us each month for a guided play-based experience designed to help young learners engage with ideas and concepts explored at ACMI – your museum of film, TV, videogames and digital art.
Each month we focus on a different theme, so there is always something new to enjoy and discover!
- Fri 17 Jan: Family Fun Film screening of My Neighbor Totoro- Preschoolers – bring big and little siblings to a free screening of this gentle tale of two sisters and their surprise friend. We are leaving the lights on low, so no one gets scared in the dark. After the session visit our centrepiece exhibition The Story of the Moving Image. (Note this session has a longer run time 10.30am - 12pm.)
- Fri 21 Feb: Futuristic Fun - This session will focus on Sci-Fi green screen effects and play, inspired by ACMI Futures exhibition. After the session visit our centrepiece exhibition The Story of the Moving Image.
- Fri 21 Mar: Future City Paper Construction - Come help us make a city of the future. Drop in over the hour to build and play, inspired by ACMI Futures exhibition.
- Fri 16 May: Thaumatrope’s - Explore animation by making your own precinematic toy, the thaumatrope. After the session visit our museum, the Story of the Moving Image.
- Fri 20 Jun: Animation - We will have fun making animation with toys! After the session visit our museum, the Story of the Moving Image.
Tickets are free and go on sale 2 weeks before each session. Book now to avoid disappointment, but you can also try your luck on the day. The session runs for 30 minutes and will start on time. You are welcome to include a visit our centrepiece exhibition The Story of the Moving Image.
Please note
- ACMI Preschoolers is suitable for all preschool children from ages two to five years.
- This is not a drop-off session, and carers must be with children at all times.
- Pram parking and nappy changing areas available.
- Participants are asked to arrive 10 minutes before session start time, as session will start on time.
