In 2019, Melbourne Queer Film Festival headed into its 29th year to showcase the finest contemporary queer cinema from Australia and beyond in the largest queer film festival in the Southern Hemisphere.
MQFF challenges and entertains by delivering a curated festival of queer film content, and encourages discussion of LGBTIQ issues through panels and special events. MQFF promotes emerging filmmakers and access to screen storytelling through industry programs and community workshops.
From 14–25 March, MQFF presented over 100 sessions at ACMI, Cinema Nova and Village Cinemas, encompassing Australian and International features, documentaries and shorts, including world, Australian and Melbourne premieres.
