Revisit Ivan Sen's stunning debut feature film on the big screen.

Beneath Clouds is an extremely assured debut... It’s the kind of film that stays with you long after it’s over.

The Age

Two disaffected teenagers, Vaughn and Lena (played by non-professional actors Damian Pitt and Dannielle Hall), meet on the road as they flee their troubled backgrounds and head to the city. Lena is looking for the Irish father she only knows from photographs. Vaughn is on the run from a prison farm, going home to see his dying mother who long ago gave him up; he is angry and prone to violent outbursts, especially against the oppressive forces around him. Though uncommunicative and wary of each other, the two develop an uneasy, tentative bond as their journey progresses.

Beneath Clouds premiered at the 52nd Berlin International Film Festival where newcomer Dannielle Hall received the award for Best New Talent.

Join us in Gallery 3 (Ground Floor) after the screening to delve deep into Australian cinema's road movie obsession with the 3-channel video work Beneath Roads.
