Celebrate the holidays with one of the cutest cats to grace the silver screen.

The imagination of a lonely cat can be a wonderful place. Komaneko is a promising young filmmaker who creates her own puppets and shoots stop-motion animation films. One day, while having a picnic with her cast and crew – her two handmade puppets – she encounters a Bigfoot and sets forth on a curious adventure towards unexpected friendship.

Curator's Note

Showcasing a range of animation styles including hand-drawn animation and stop-animation, the techniques and textures of Komaneko call to mind the children’s classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964). Joy, wonder, fear and sadness are evoked with subtle visual and aural cues that are revealed throughout Komaneko’s journey of surprising and disarming emotional depth.

Our special Kids' Flicks with Feelings sessions include a curator introduction where we introduce the concept of emotional intelligence to young viewers and a take-home activity pack.
