Flex your emotional muscles with a selection of films featuring the cutest cats and kindest robots.
Everyone is intelligent in different ways. Some people are good at Maths, some people are good at English, and some people are emotionally intelligent.
Whether our strength is emotional intelligence or not, the good news is that we can hone our skills through practice. Emotions are usually very human qualities, and so this summer we're focusing on the inhuman: robots, characters we would expect not to feel emotions. So, how do animators and filmmakers convey emotions through robots, and what visual cues should young viewers look out for to understand what a robot is feeling?
Each screening in this program will begin with a quick talk to introduce the concepts of emotional intelligence. After screenings, we will provide take-home activities that will help your kids flex their emotional muscles and apply learnings to their everyday lives.
Before robots take over our screens in January, join us for a special pre-Christmas screening of Komaneko the Curious Cat.
