A film that explores the story of Indonesian people through the imagination and creativity of children.
The Seen and Unseen not only boasts a unique and outstanding achievement in Indonesian cinema, it also provides a window into Balinese culture not often seen by the world at large.
One day in a hospital room, Tantri (10 years old) realises that she will not have a long time left with her twin brother, Tantra, who is starting to lose his senses one by one as his brain weakens. Tantra's situation opens up something in his sister's mind; Tantri keeps waking up in the middle of the night and dreaming about Tantra. The night becomes their playground, and under the full moon, Tantri dances. She dances about her home, about her feelings. As the moon is dimmed and is replaced by the sun, so does Tantra and Tantri's dream. Together, Tantri and Tantra experience a magical journey and emotional relationship through body expressions; between reality and imagination, loss and hope.
