ACMI presents

The Future & Beyond

Festival

When

Sat 15 & Sun 16 Feb 2025

Experience a weekend of imagined futures and new tomorrows at your museum of screen culture.

Through talks, performances and screenings, explore how future visions on screen – from AI-powered love stories to cyberpunk dystopias – reveal as much about today’s world as tomorrow’s.

Unpack the wonders and warnings behind 7 iconic objects from pop culture with author Adrian Hon. Celebrate the stunning visuals of Björk’s most iconic music videos. Dive into cyberpunk landscapes and take part in the shaping of future worlds. Ponder the possibilities and problems of AI through films like Ex Machina, Blade Runner 2049 & The Creator. Discover the wonders of Indian futurism with a musical celebration of electronica, dance, digital art and cultural preservation. And choose your own adventure with an immersive, text-based role-playing game taking place in our museum spaces, influenced by cinema and ACMI’s own exhibitions.

Don’t miss this weekend packed with insight and imagination, inspired by our World Premiere exhibition, The Future & Other Fictions.
