Björk makes a haunting onscreen appearance in the gripping saga co-written by her longtime collaborator Sjón.

From visionary director Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse) this action-filled epic follows a young Viking prince on his relentless quest for vengeance after the murder of his father. Starring Alexander Skarsgård, The Northman’s all-star cast also features Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Björk.

Curator's note

While this is Björk’s first collaboration with director Robert Eggers, her creative partnership with co-writer Sjón spans decades. From her early days with The Sugarcubes to crafting iconic songs like ‘Isobel’, ‘Jóga’ and ‘Bachelorette’. Sjón has been instrumental in shaping Björks musical journey. His screenwriting credits include Dancer in the Dark along with the Academy Award-nominated song ‘I've Seen it All’, co-written with Björk.

In The Northman, Eggers and Sjón reimagine the legend of Amleth, the ancient Norse tale that inspired Shakespeare's Hamlet.
