Juliette Binoche stars in Michael Haneke's beautifully fragmented vision of modern life.

On an unremarkable morning in Paris, a teenage boy, preoccupied with his own family dramas carelessly throws rubbish into the lap of a woman begging on the street.  Soon, a fight breaks out causing ripples in the lives of all involved.

Curator's Note

Continuing in the vein of his 1994 film 71 Fragments of the Chronology of Chance, Code Unknown does away with narrative arcs to instead sew together fragments from the characters' lives into a cinematic tapestry.

Juliette Binoche and a superb cast embody characters who are all connected by an invisible thread and who each lack the empathy and compassion to navigate.

Code Unknown premiered at the 53rd Cannes Film Festival.
