James Benning's "California Trilogy" continues with Los, an urban companion piece to the farming hinterland of El Valley Centro.
Each film of the California Trilogy – El Valley Centro (1999), Los (2000), and Sogobi (2001) – contains 35 shots, each exactly two and a half minutes long, to "map the state, visualizing its beauty while examining the politics of water and of ethnicity" (Artforum).
