Master documentary techniques through a fun and playful day of mockumentary filmmaking

Designed for Years 7 and 8 students wanting to band together to produce a short film, and Year 9 & 10 students wanting to expand their skills, this workshop invites students to work together in groups to produce short mockumentaries, all in one day. Prior experience in filmmaking is not essential, although we will draw upon existing student knowledge.

Students will:

  • interpret a script and add their own improvisations
  • explore the mockumentary and documentary genre
  • produce a pre-production plan
  • setup and frame compelling and comfortable interviews
  • explore 'b-roll' and cutaway footage techniques used in documentary
  • get familiar with camera equipment, shot types, and framing
  • edit their films using Final Cut Pro
