Breaking the Hays Code

The Motion Picture Production Code, known as the Hays Code, was a self imposed set of industry guidelines outlining what could and couldn't be shown in Hollywood films. Established in 1930 but not enforced till 1934, the code would eventually be replaced with the film rating system in 1968.
