Virtual Cinémathèque PRESENTED BY THE MELBOURNE CINÉMATHÈQUE & ACMI

Virtual Cinémathèque: For the Record

For the return of Virtual Cinémathèque, we delve into two documentaries that examine the relationship between the watchers and those being watched: Citizenfour (2014) by Laura Poitras and Cameraperson (2016) by Kirsten Johnson

These films urge us to consider the complexities and power of the recorded image and how its transmission affects those in the frame, the makers, and the audience. Laura Poitras and Kirsten Johnson have collaborated as director and cinematographer on several features including The Oath, Citizenfour and Risk

– Kristy Matheson, Director of ACMI's Film Programs

Please feel free to join in the conversation using the #acmivirtualcteq hashtag this Wednesday 24 June or at another time that suits you.

Keep safe and all the best,
